THERE IS ALWAYS A FIRST TIME…

It was a winter night, four years ago: I turned my TV on and, after a long and unuseful zapping, I went to my daughter’s room. She was spending the night chatting with some friend of hers. Ilaria was 14 years old and was fond of music, literature and movies. These are things I like too, so they make us feeling closer. While I was looking at her CD and books collection, from her PC a song that I never heard before started: “Baby join me in Death…”; taken by those lyrics and that voice I held and listened to it: keyboards starting with a melancholic intro, followed by a charming electric guitar and the rhythm of drums, a bass that remained under…and above all that unique voice, able to touch my heart. Immediately, my thoughts run to Romeo And Juliet and I asked Ilaria who was playing… So I met HIM. For some time the band hadn’t a face for me: they were just voice and instruments in the music of Razorblade Romance and Love Metal; those lyrics brought me back to my passion for the Nordic literature and to the magic and romantic atmosphere I could find into Hoffman’s tales, Poe’s novels, Baudelaire and Blake’s poetry. Since that evening “Join me”, “Gone with the sin”, “Your sweet 666” became the soundtrack of my nights… This until the day Ilaria called me to show me a videoclip on her PC: it was “The funeral of Hearts”. My doubting eyes saw the images of a snowy landscape, with northern lights shining in the sky and, in the end, here they were: green eyes sparkling in a close up, underlined by the black color of the beanie, and then him…Ville smiling and singing in a wonderful way. At his back, the guys. One of them, the blond rastaman playing guitars starts to strike my imagination…and then the wolf, the Sami people and the heartagram made by bonfire on the snow… That video has been another first time; since that moment the guys have begun to exist in the pictures, into the videos, in all my patient researches on the net, during my long winter nights …and so my passion grew up along the listening of Love Metal, but also the recovering, back in time, of their music. This is not enough; On September 12th those five finnish boys stopped to be pixels on a computer and became true people, when I saw their show at the Rolling Stone in Milan…another first time which has been the beginning of a lot of experiences, dreams that became reality thanks to them: my first trip to Helsinki, the Give It A name Festival and the meeting with the boys on the Earl’s Court back sealed by pics and autographs, the Helldone in December and the meeting with Ville into the Tavastia Club. And along with it, the board, the holidays, the meeting with my friends for the concerts, my daughter’s experience in Finland have arrived too. The first time of love can’t be forgotten: it becomes a particular moment and marks a turning point. For me too it has been like that: that winter night of four years ago my life changed and, gig after gig, in Italy and abroad, that love is still here, and I’m ready to prepare other luggage and jump on a train or airplane to follow them once again and to live together with the people who share my passion, a lot of unforgettable moments
